Hospitality Management HND

The BTEC Higher National Certificate (HND) is a specialist vocational programme with a strong emphasis on Management. This qualification is equivalent to completing Year 2 of a Degree Level. This exciting new qualification will provide the underpinning skills required for students who are working in Hospitality Management or for those interested in pursuing a career in a range of professions within Tourism, Entertainment, Venues and Events Management, Food/Catering, Brewing, Hertiage and Culture. The range of subjects is broad enough to provide you with an industry-recognised qualification. You will be assessed by a carefully selected mix of assignments, presentations and projects.

Entry is open to persons of 18 years and over, who will have to sit through an interview to assess their suitability. For speakers of English as a second language: IELTS 6.0 overall, level 6.0 in writing required.

Students’ work on the HNC/D course is assessed via a programme of continuous assessment. Assignments will vary in format and will include individual course work, group work and in-class activities.

Students who successfully complete 8 Higher National units will be a awarded the Higher National Certificate. Successful completion of 16 units will be lead to the award of a Higher National Diploma.

The HND in Hospitality Management will run on a full-time basis. Days and times to be confirmed.

A tuition fee of £2,500 per year will apply, however you will be eligible for a student tuition fee loan to cover this cost. You will only make repayments when you earn in excess of £21000 per year. Any outstanding balance remaining after 30 years will be written off.

The HNC and HND are widely recognised qualifications in their own right, but they also provide students with access to a range of University degree programmes, and exemption is normally awarded from the first year, or first two years of the degree, depending on the grades achieved and subjects studied at HNC/HND level.

In the UK students graduating from HNC/HND programmes are able to progress to Honours Degree programmes, but the requirements will vary according to the receiveing institution.
